Christmas Eve Service

The cantata “Morning Star”, by Lloyd Larson, will be performed at the Sabina United Methodist Church on Christmas Eve at 11:00 PM. This cantata conveys the Christmas story as one of hope, one of redemption, and one of fulfilled promises from God.  The Morning Star did rise, a Star that still shines in the darkest of nights for people then and for us now.

Soloists for the evening include Beth Hackmann, Ian Hackmann, Chuck McMillan, Neil Gilmore, Peggy Dunn, and Jeanie Gilmore.  Narrators are Robb Uhl and Carol Mercer. Barbara Briggs is director and accompanist.

The SUMC Handbell Choir will also be performing.  Their music includes “Still, Still, Still” arranged by Bill Ingram, “God Rest Ye Merry” arranged by Cynthia Dobrinski, and “The First Nowell” arranged by Linda R. Lamb.

The traditional candlelighting and congregational singing of “Silent Night” will once again provide a fitting conclusion to the concert.  We welcome the community to come and share in this inspirational evening celebrating the joyous birth of the Christ Child.
